CILT Entrepreneur’s Forum

17 January 2014/Categories: CILT International News

Welcome to the CILT Entrepreneur’s Forum!

This is a new cross-membership forum, being set up in 2014 to support new and developing smaller companies in the transport and logistics sector and helping them realise their goals and vision – leading to business success.

The idea of an International ‘virtual’ forum has come from discussions at the 2013 Convention, particularly where younger, entrepreneurial professionals recognised this as an area where there is a gap in catering for our global membership.

Quite deliberately this is a cross-sector forum, as it is designed to help entrepreneurs right across the board, joined together with a common bond of belief about their business idea or concept. Or members that have been on the business journey for some time – but who are always thirsty for the next innovation or growth plan. And those that have been on the entrepreneur journey and want to share their experiences.

Membership is open to all – indeed at one end students thinking about setting up their own business enterprise through to experienced business owners who would like to contribute something back through speaking, mentoring or getting involved in any other way.

Our Vision

At this stage we are setting up CILT UK forum to connect and support logistics and transport professionals who have set up (or are planning to set up) their own small businesses, particularly targeted at the micro-business sector but will also be of value to other smaller businesses (i.e. up to 50 staff).

Our plan is to be fully up and running within the first half of 2014, and in parallel, a virtual forum to bring together professionals from the CILT international community.

Some of the activities we plan to offer

  • To provide a support network for those professionals who are developing their micro-business/business propositions.
  • To enable professionals to share experiences and provide mentoring and advice.
  • To allow collaboration and accelerate awareness of funding, training and resource opportunities available.
  • To collaborate on access to grants and industry / innovation funding.
  • To plan and deliver cross-disciplinary webinars to benefit growing businesses
  • To access formal training courses tailored to the audience via CILT’s existing programmes.
  • To use the latest thinking in e-technology to connect entrepreneurs.
  • To use country-based conference/events and the annual CILT International Convention to provide a forum for entrepreneurs to get together

Making this happen!

At this stage we’re looking for professionals who would like to become involved in the International Entrepreneurs Forum Committee so we can get going on this exciting initiiative. We are looking for those who will help mobilise the CILT UK Forum but are also happy to hear from those that would like to register interest for the wider internatonal Forum. We will meet by Skype and other online meeting media and will not take up a lot of you time! So if you would like to get involved, or simply let us know that you think this will benefit you – get in touch!
