The Chartered Institute of Transport is an internationally recognised institution founded in 1919 in United Kingdom; and the Hong Kong Branch was first set up in 1968. The local chapter was upgraded to Territorial Organisation (formerly named as National Council) status in 1991 and was renamed as the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong in 2001.
