The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport held their AGM

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) held its AGM on 31st March 2015 at the Kingsbury Hotel attended by a large gathering, the highest ever recorded in an AGM in the history of CILT. Mr Niral Kadawathararachchi was reelected as the Chairman for his second term. The three Vice Chairpersons Ms Gayani de Alwis, Ms Namalie Siyambalapitiya and Capt Lasitha Cumaratunga and the Treasurer Mr Ravi Edirisinghe too were reelected. Mr Nujith Samarwickrema got elected as the new Secretary.

The key feature of the newly elected council is the presence of six women members for the CILT Council for 2015 for the first time. CILT is actively promoting gender diversity in the industry through their women’s forum Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT). The inclusion of women in the Council, show their commitment towards this endeavor.

Chairman Niral in his AGM address spoke about various activities that CILT conducted in the past one year, the most notable being the highly successful International conference which was well accepted and had a record participation. He also thanked the outgoing council for their support rendered in the past year. Niral especially commended the work of WiLAT and Young Professionals Forum (YPF) which is considered as the live wires of CILT.

Niral also elaborated that education will be a top priority for CILT in his second term and informed the membership that it will be focused with vigor this year.
