Ryanair to launch Manchester-Nuremberg route

10 February 2016/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Aviation

Ryanair is to launch flights from Manchester to Nuremberg as part of its plans to set up a new base in the German city.

The low-cost carrier plans to base one aircraft at the Bavarian city’s airport from November 1, 2016.

As part of this expansion, Ryanair will introduce a daily service between Nuremberg and Manchester, as well as expanding frequency on the existing Nuremberg-Stansted route to twice daily.

The airline will also add four new routes from Nuremberg to Budapest, Malta, Milan Bergamo and Rome Ciampino from next winter.

Ryanair chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: “Our Nuremberg winter schedule is the ideal choice for both business and leisure customers and we look forward to growing routes, traffic, jobs and tourism in Germany.

Michael Hupe, Nuremberg airport's managing director, added: “The new destinations are a highly appreciated enrichment of our route network, addressing business and leisure travellers.

“Ryanair recognised the high potential of the Nuremberg metropolitan region and is going to seize the opportunities that our market provides to the airline.”

Nuremberg will be Ryanair’s seventh base in Germany and 79th across its network – it already has German bases at Berlin Schonefeld, Bremen, Dusseldorf, Cologne Bonn, Frankfurt Hahn and Baden.
