Fowler Welch wins contract extension with Marlow Foods

11 May 2016/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

UK logistics and supply chain specialist, Fowler Welch, has secured a major contract extension with one of its largest food manufacturing customers, Marlow Foods, owner of meat free brand, Quorn.

Marlow Foods, owned by Monde Nissin Corporation, has extended its contract with Fowler Welch for a further five years to collect, store, pick and despatch chilled Quorn products to regional distribution centres (RDCs) across the country.

Commenting on the contract extension, Christophe Evo, Logistics Director at Marlow Foods, said: “The relationship between Marlow Foods and Fowler Welch has grown from being a simple transactional based collaboration to a close working business relationship.

“Fowler Welch have shown tremendous flexibility in a challenging FMCG environment and are consistently engaging with us in order to streamline and improve our supply chain organisation.”

John Peall, Deputy Managing Director at Fowler Welch, said: “We have been working in partnership with Marlow Foods since 2007 and we are delighted that our contract has been extended for a further five years – it’s testament to the dedication, hunger and passion of our team.

“We started working together nine years ago, after Marlow Foods was exploring options for storage and distribution, and visited our Spalding facility, and saw the potential in joining our warehouse portfolio.

“Since joining our operation at Spalding, Marlow Foods has enjoyed steady growth in volume and overall delivery profile, which continues to this day. We have also seen greater momentum over recent months and Marlow Foods now has extensive plans to increase sales consistently over the long term.”

Fowler Welch currently moves 8.5million cases a year for Marlow Foods and now, with the contract extension, this number is set to increase further.

“We have great pleasure in announcing the news that Fowler Welch has secured this ongoing business for a further five years,” John added, “following a review process conducted by Marlow Foods to ensure the existing partners across the whole of the business remain consistent with their cultural and financial aspirations. And we are very much looking forward to continuing our successful work with the team, maintaining our service levels, management and growth for their products.

“Thanks to the efforts of everyone at Spalding, for ensuring the service delivered has been maintained and thanks to the team for its overall account management provided to Marlow Foods, which has proven invaluable to both businesses in reaching this fantastic position.

John concluded: “It is a very exciting time for us at Fowler Welch and we look forward to continuing to develop supply chain solutions that optimise flexibility and efficiency for Marlow Foods over the next five years.”
