Prologis Launches New East Midlands Site

Prologis, the global leader in logistics real estate, today announced that it is starting infrastructure work at Prologis Park Wellingborough West in the East Midlands. The programme includes diverting utilities, creating development plateaux, building a new spine road and access roundabout together with off-site highways improvements. Infrastructure work will continue over the summer and the first buildings could complete in early 2018. The development has the potential to bring more than 2,500 jobs to the local area.

Located beside the established Park Farm Industrial Estate, the new 110-acre development has planning permission for a total of 2.15 million square feet in buildings, ranging from 80,000 square feet to 700,000 square feet. In line with Prologis’ approach to sustainable development, each unit will be designed and constructed to achieve a minimum BREEAM ‘very good’ accreditation and the best EPC rating possible for its size.

Next to the A509, Prologis Park Wellingborough West is close to the A45, A14 and the M1, within an easy drive time of Birmingham, London and Manchester, as well as the East Coast ports.

“There is a shortage of modern industrial and logistics space in East Midlands, so our new development is attracting a great deal of interest both from existing occupiers and companies who are new to the town,” said Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis U.K. “There are very few logistics sites with planning permission in the East Midlands, so we are delighted that we can offer customers a wide range of opportunities at this new site.”

Lambert Smith Hampton and Burbage Realty are acting for Prologis.

Prologis owns and manages approximately 25 million square feet of logistics and distribution space in the U.K. as of March 31, 2016.
